Surely you’ve seen the Follow Me To photography series created by Photographer, Murad Osmann. He documents his travels by taking pictures of his girlfriend leading the way around the world. Her back is always facing him, never showing her face. She leads us around the globe to some of the most beautiful locations filled with romance and excitement. All images are taken and posted to his Instagram profile.

It all started while the couple was vacationing and Natalia, Murad’s girlfriend, would get annoyed that he was always taking pictures, so she would grab his hand and pull him forward. That did not stop him though, he continued.

The Follow Me To series became a huge success. The images below are only a fraction of the beautiful photographs he has taken. Please take the time to look at his Instagram if you are interested in more.

Illustrations on Photography by Johan Thörnqvist

Johan Thörnqvist is a Swedish illustrator. He created the work by drawing on photography taken only with a cell phone. On the right is the original photograph and his manipulation on the left.

I love these illustrations because this is what I see when I look at an object or landscape. There is this part of me that spaces out and someone has to pull me back to reality. I love that Johan capture what his mind was visualizing. Very intriguing. And all with a cell phone image. What a brilliant idea.

So, I encourage you to check out his site and possibly his social networks.

Pinterest- interesting stuff on here. However, I can’t read a lot of it. Just go back to your childhood and be amused by the pictures.

Creative Wedding Invitations

Do you remember what your wedding invitations looked like? How did you pick which ones you wanted? Did you make them yourself? if so, where did you get the idea? If not, where did you find them?

Several of my friends got married last year. One of those couples had an anniversary this weekend and it got my thinking about all of the wedding invitations I’ve seen in the last year. They were all so different. Some were more standard and elegant while others more creative and unique. It made me wonder about all of the other wedding invitations out there. I’ve never really delved to deeply into the wedding circuit so I wanted to see what I could find.

To those of you who are getting married and looking for wedding invitations, I hope this helps. Unfortunately, it probably won’t if you aren’t as geeky as I am.

Adorable! Pac man wedding invitations! Great idea for the geeky couple.

This one is elegant and creative. I love the cut outs.

View finder invitations! How creative is that?

This purple wedding set is kind of fun. I like the simple design paired with the while chandelier. Something different.

I like this card. The cartoon-ish aspect is adorable for a wedding. I wish the designer would’ve used 2 fonts instead of three though. The red one throws off my view a bit.

DIY Scrapbook Picture Frame

I’ve wanted to make my own picture frame for a while. This one took about 20 mins and costs less than $10. Pretty good right? I’m going to be honest, I am not a huge fan of the Live, Laugh, Love phrase that everyone seems to adore so much, but the stickers were the perfect size for this particular frame. I couldn’t help myself.

Things You Will Need:
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
Stickers
Mod podge
Paint brush
Exacto knife
Cutting board
Picture frame
Scrapbook paper

Step 1:
Measure your frame of choice and cut out your scrapbook paper to match the size of the picture frame. Test it to make sure it fits properly.

Step 2:
Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge on your frame.

Step 3:
Apply the scrapbook paper. As you can see, I decided against my original choice of scrapbook paper. I went with something a bit more fun.

Step 4:
Adhere the stickers to the frame.

Voila! A DIY picture frame from scrapbook paper. This is one of the easiest crafts I can think of that always turns out nicely. Hope you enjoyed it!

Comic Book Artist: Bernie Wrightson

Where are my comic book fans? I know there are a few of you out there!

Bernie Wrightson is an american artist known for his comic books and horror illustrations.

Bernie started out as an Illustrator for The Baltimore Sun, his local newspaper. Not long after that, he attended a comic book convention in New York City and became inspired to create his own comic books.

You guys remember Swamp Thing, right? This monster in the vertical image to the far left, was co-created by Bernie and writer, Len Wein in House of Secrets which was published by DC Comics. He created plenty more comic books but I thought swamp thing was probably the most popular. Feel free to check out his Wikipedia page for more background.

Craft Project: Pumpkin Vase

I found this craft pumpkin vase tutorial on 52 Weeks Project and thought it was adorable! It actually reminded me of my DIY Painted Mason Jar Decor a little but because of the bright colors and the vase aspect. However, this idea is much more crafty! I would’ve never thought to use a pumpkin as a vase! Brilliant!

I wanted to share it for three reasons.

My crafty audience will love this idea
I wanted to give the artist credit because she deserves creative points for coming up with this!
I will never make this because I honestly can’t think of a way to improve it. It is lovely.

DIY Sketchbook Cover

I recently got a new sketchbook. The first thing I do with a new one is to decorate the cover. Usually this consists of a massive collage of drawings, paintings, and sometimes bits and pieces of articles. This time, I preferred to go colorful and a bit less in your face.

What is Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there!

I was thinking about it today, and realized that I really don’t know anything about Mother’s Day. I know that it is a day to honor and celebrate mothers, motherhood, and the influence of mothers in today’s society. Of course, I researched it a little bit.

Mother’s day was first celebrated in the United States in 1908. The first memorial was held by Anna Jarvis, for her mother, in Grafton, WV. Afterwards, Anna campaigned for Mother’s Day to become a recognized holiday. Mother’s Day was accepted by other countries and is now nationally celebrated. Most countries celebrate the holiday in April or May and give cards or gifts to their maternal figures.

This is where it gets interesting. Four years after the creation of the holiday, Anna Jarvis created the Mother’s Day International Association and trademarked “second Sunday in May” and “Mother’s Day”. She believed that “Mother’s” should be singular because each family was supposed to honor its mother. It wasn’t meant to be a plural possessive commemorating all mother’s.
