Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy and the New Science of Desire by Martin Lindstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book. I may be bias because I am a graphic designer and crave information about marketing so, keep that in mind while reading my review.
I Started reading the book because of the marketing concept. I am always looking for information about design and marketing and this seemed to be a good book for that. As I read I noticed, as other people did, that the author is constantly talking about his success in the business. Some readers were very bothered by this but I think it was necessary for him to discuss this with his readers in order to establish a trust with them. If he had been a nobody in the field he would not have enough success to be giving advice in the field. Although, he probably could have done this with half of the examples he used.
Lindstrom is very thorough in his research and findings. Not only does he tell you what he researched but he always tells you how he went about the research, the reaction of the market and sometimes the other companies in the business.
Over all, the book is very informative; I recommend it for anyone searching for information. If you are just reading to read I might consider a book with less self centeredness. Happy reading!
